Australian Bernedoodles

Do you love both the Australian Labradoodle AND the Bernese Mountain Dog? If so, then an Australian Bernedoodle may be the breed for you!

An Australian Bernedoodle is a unique cross combining the Bernese Mountain Dog with an Australian Labradoodle. Or, to make it more complicated, a F1 Bernedoodle (first-generation crossbreed of the Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle) mixed with an Australian Labradoodle. It is important to note that this breed does not contain an Australian Shepherd.

They are known to be a friendly breed that loves to be around people and their eager to please attitude makes them suitable for first time dog owners.

Temperaments

Australian Bernedoodles are known for being affectionate, playful, protective/loyal and intelligent. Due to the genes of the Bernese Mountain Dog, they have a low to moderate energy level. They love a good amount of exercise and play, but they love the rest afterwards as much. Their ‘pack’ is everything to them, which means Australian Bernedoodles are not suitable for families who are rarely home or who keep their dog(s) outside.

Sizes

Bernedoodles are bred in three different sizes: miniature, medium and standard. However, we will only breed medium and standard sizes.

Medium: 43-52 cm, 14-23 kg

Standard: 53-65 cm, 24-35 kg

Coats and colours

Every Australian Bernedoodle has a different coat. The majority have a wavy coat that sheds minimally, if at all. The straighter the coat, the more it sheds, and the less suitable the dog will be for people with allergies. Please note that no dog is truly hypoallergenic. However, Bernedoodles can be allergy-friendly to many people who have dog-related allergies.

Australian Bernedoodles are usually pure black, black and white, black and brown, or tri-colour (black, white and brown). But other colours and patterns are possible too, like red and white or merle (mottled patches of various colours). It all depends on their parents genetics.
